Re: Re: About that 96 engine
It can work. You just need to change the intake manifold, exhaust manifold and maybe a few other sensors. Other that that the heads have to be modified to accept the cam angle sensor. A friend of mine installed a 98 engine into his 92 base 3000. No problems.

He lists the sensors, and you can take them off your old motor and reuse them, rather than changing the wiring harness.

Re: About that 96 engine
Do you still have your 92 engine? If so, you/your mechanic can cut off the sensors from your 92, splice the wires on teh 96 engine, and switch the 96 sensors for your 92 sensors...that will work with your 92 ecu...this is detailed in the link i posted above...the guy puts a 94 engine in a 91...the same conversion you will be doing...

Re: About that 96 engine
How much would a 96 ecu cost?
Or i was thinking if I would be able to use the 96 block and use the heads and intake manifold form the 92 ( the thing with most of the sencors on it )

Re: Re: About that 96 engine
The heads are not that hard to modify to make work with the 92 sensors. And yes swap the manifolds(intake and exhaust) as thats the best route to get everything to hook up right.

Re: About that 96 engine
So your saying to use the 92 intake and exhaust manifolds? and it will all work?

Re: Re: About that 96 engine
Should. Then there are plenty of resources out there that will tell you how to use the cam angle sensor on 93 and up heads. I am sure Jeff Luscius' site has it too. Thats the stealth316.com that was posted a few responses up.

Re: About that 96 engine
Oh and the engine isnt gonna come witht he exhaust and intake manifolds, so i have no choice but to use the 92 intake manifold. But im still debating on the head.....
