I Have a 1999 Honda Civic DX that I recently purchased with 65,000 miles on it.The car has been running great, but yesterday while it was idling in the driveway it stalled out.I tried to start it numerous times throughout the day,and even though it was turning over strong,it would not start.I have determined that it is getting fuel to the cylinders, but I need help with the rest of the process of elimination.I know there was a recall for the Ignition Switch on this vehicle, and after checking the VIN with the local dealer,I found that it has not been done yet.Could this be the problem? Also, how would I check the timing belt? Thanks so much for any help.

Re: 99 Civic Stalling--Possible Ignition Switch
Why do you suspect the timing belt?
To check spark, pull a spark plug, plug it into the plug wire, and crank the motor. If you see spark, then its good. Another "safer" way to test, is hook up a timing light. If it lights up, then your coil is working. |

First of all your rpm idle on the gauge is probably the reason. if its not manual then ya ur pcv. The idle should be around the 500-700 rpm at idle and if it goes lower when you press on the gas and then let go on nuetral then its the cluster and the rpm timing. hope this helps, and to time the rpm idle thing well its a little screw thing right by the left hand side of the motor by the bottom not top. i think on ur car. and please don't tell me how to do it because it takes a lot of explaining and also maybe some other guys will tell you maybe in a shorter way. If you don't know i'll try to ask my mechanic he fixed mine.
