Buick Regal Blinker Problems
I have a 91 Buick Regal. My blinkers to not blink, and sometimes will not light up. I have to hold the blinker either down or up to get them to blink, and sometimes I have to move the blinker arm up and down to simulate blinking. Could these be a problem with the contacts in the steering wheel column?
Thank you, Kevin |

Re: Buick Regal Blinker Problems
By the sounds of it you need a new multifunction switch. I'm not sure how expensive those can be on your car but they CAN be expensive.

Re: Buick Regal Blinker Problems
You can pick a blinker switch up at a pull it yourself salvage yard for $10-$15. I paid $12.70 for mine the day brfore yesterday.

Re: Buick Regal Blinker Problems
My 91 regal has the same problem. If the steering wheel is turned to a certain position everything works fine. Even the steering wheel radio controls. I am thinking of a maybe a short in the steering column wiring. But I need my car daily and don't have time to tear it apart, so I live with the nucense.

Re: Buick Regal Blinker Problems
on my 88 regal you have to pull back the turn signal switch a little bit when using the left signal for it to come on

Re: Buick Regal Blinker Problems
Guys,
If you have the multifunction switch (wipers, blinkers, cruise, ...) it is the switch that is causing problems. I had the same problem with my 96 Regal. Switch costs $90 at the dealer (I would recommend getting new one) but the labor might be expensive as the steering wheel has to come off for the switch to be installed. Maurycy |

Now, the left hand turn disengages the brake lights. So it is an obvious short. Since I have been training as an electricians apprentice for the past several months, I feel confortable fixing the wiring (if possible). But since I'm not a mechanic, how do I remove the steering wheel and is there anything special that I need to do so that I don't damage or prematurely engage the air bag? Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. |
