Back with serious mods!!!!

Well, gentlemen, been off this forum for several months. The truck has had a serious face lift. Finally chunked the 4.8L for an 02 LQ4 6.0L. Installed a Thunder Racing TR224 cam, Comp 918 springs, hand ported/polished heads, Thorley long tube headers with 2 QTP electric cutouts, and 2 magnaflow single inlet/outlet 3" magnaflow mufflers. I had to have a tune, so I went to Nelson Performance for the tune. Also purchased my fan harness from Nelson for my LT1 fans. Also had a little tranny work done. Team Tripp super duty 4l60e, TCI 3000 stall, and Permacool tranny cooler. Swapped my 3.42s for a set of 3.73s. Finally got done with the swap about two weeks ago. My slicks are coming this week, so I might finally get to make it to the track before the Thunder Racing Southern Shootout in Belle Rose, LA on Nov. 6-7. Anybody thinking about making the swap from a 4.8L to the 6.0L, don't wait!!!! Do it right now!!!!

Has anyone else done the swap? Haven't been around for a few months, so I'm behind on what everyone has been up to. But I'm back in action!!!

Re: Back with serious mods!!!!

I'm nowhere ready to do a swap now, I just replaced my engine b/c of a faulty (a few actually) bearings. I thought about swapping over while mine was down, but didnt have the moolah to do so. I have however, decided that I wanna get this engine (still a 5.3) to haul some serious ass. Nelson's tune helped alot, but I still want more. I guess I need headers and some elec. fans next, or maybe a cam, or hell..who knows? lol

Oh yeah, I wanna see your numbers when you run it.

The track has my name all over it Saturday night! All three things you said will really bring out the power. Even a converter will knock around a half second off a 1/4 time. TCI makes a great converter, and they are priced to sell. I just decided to do the swap because I knew I wasn't going to get the power I wanted out of the 4.8L without feeding the bottle to it. The 6.0L is definately getting the giggle gas in the near future though.

Your wish is my command. I'll get the pics I have of the motor in the crate, my headwork, my heads with the Comp 918s, the motor in the truck with the Thorleys blinging out the side, my electric cutouts mounted behind the headers, my fan install, my dual exhaust with xpipe and magnaflows, and anything else you guys might be interested in seeing. I'm sitting at the girlfriends house right now(enjoying the DSL instead of my crappy 56k at home ). I have a cd full of pics of the aftermath I will put up on my cardomain site.(come to think of it, I need to update that too).

I'll make a new thread for the pics tomorrow. Of course, I'll have to come back over here to upload them.(no way I'm doing it on my modem)

Re: Back with serious mods!!!!

I wanna do the electric fan install first I think. I need to find me some LT1 fans on a junk car.
