Can anyone tell me how you put in a CD player/changer into your 99 Taurus with the monolithic "central command" of a dash board? My car came with only the cassette player, but has all the buttons needed for a CD player. But, as you know, all the controls are part of one HUGE plate on the dash. Any ideas? I'd really like to move into a CD player/changer but don't want to spend big $$$. Not sure if it's possible... Help?

Re: 99 Taurus CD player
do you have digital climate controls?
if not, crutchfield.com sells an adapter plate. if you do have digital climate control, you need to install a new head unit somehwere else, like the middle of the console or the glove compartment or use an FM-modulated CD changer.

Re: 99 Taurus CD player
I was so happy with what I got from them, I actually ordered the same unit for my 2001 Windstar as well. They send it out the same day if you order on a weekday. I got mine the very next day. They are however, in the same state as I am located. Good luck!

Re: 99 Taurus CD player
I am from Illinois. This company is near Chicago. They seem to be a good company to deal with. Their only downfall is that they charged me the tax rate of Chicago (which is 8.25% I think). Other than that, I have no complaints with them. I installed mine in the trunk and it only took me 10 minutes. I had no wires to cut or splice into the unit. Was the easiest thing to install that I have ever done. Nothing needs to be done up front at the control head.
Good luck! |

I did the same with my '99 and plan to buy frmo them for my 2003. the setup is incredibly easy and with my 99 it was like the sound system finalyl woke from a deep and troubled sleep.
