GT35R Turbo

I am thinking of running a GT35R turbo on my built LS. I was wondering if anyone else is using a GT35. How do you like it? How much power are you putting out?

gt35r are good turbos from garrett.....ballbearing turbos spools much quicker... but they are pretty pricey.

price is not really an object I'm looking to get the quickest spooling turbo with tons of top end power

Well, even with the help of GT technology and ball-bearings, the turbo will not necessarily spool really quickly, as the size of the turbo offsets it's spooling capabilities. It does however spool faster than most turbos that are capable of flowing so much air.

Also, are you sure you want to get a GT35R? Although it looks like a great turbo, is it really the right turbo for you?

First of all, it is alot of money for only ONE component of a turbo system, so sometimes it's better to spend less on a turbo that spools slower but is still capable of making the same power and spending it on something important (ex: stand-alone EMS, quality exhaust manifold, internals etc.).

Also, when a turbo spools faster that means that you will get more power at lower speeds, and for front-wheel-drive cars that's not the best option especially on street tires/wheels (for traction). Plus if a turbo has more lag it will be easier to drive on busy streets as you won't have to worry as much about suddenly getting boost and your mileage could be better.

There are other things to consider, but I'm running out of time, and I hope this helps you with your decision.

Thanks for your advice. This is not my everday car. I take it out probably twice a week. I am in the process now of a complete engine build up. I am saving money and taking my time to do it right. I am going with hondata EMS. Money is not an object in my build. I am building this car to do some street driving but it will primaraly be used on the road course and drag strip. I want a turbo set up that spools quickly And yet still makes big horsepower. I have heard very good things about the GT35R and was just wondering if any one in here has had any expirence with this turbo.

The GT35R is a 600 WHP turbo. Do you need 600 WHP on a road course? If you're going to build it to put down 600 WHP on the track it sure as hell ain't gonna handle good. A GT30R or a GT25/40R is a much better choice for a car that will see the road course.
