Some problems with 86 Grand Am w/3.0 v6

I'm having some troubles with my winter beater...it has a VERY bad idle and is extremely gutless. Another thing is that the exhaust manifolds get red hot after idling for around 10 min, if that. I need to get this thing fixed ASAP, as it is my winter beater and the Mustang just doesn't cut it in the snow

Thanks for any help...

You may want to have your catalytic converter checked, my guess is that it is clogged causing the rough idle the no guts as well as the hot manifold...
