Cabin Filter Replacement - 1999 Tahoe

I have never replaced the cabin filter(s) in my 1999 Tahoe. There is no mention of cabin filters in the owners manual, and the Chevy service dept. mgrs. I have spoken with are sketchy with info.

I purchased BOSCH replacement filters (2/box) which come with instructions, but they appear to be incorrect.

If anyone has any experience replacing these filters in the 1999 Tahoe, I am interested to know the exact location that they reside and the best strategy for getting to that location.

Many Thanks !!!

Re: Cabin Filter Replacement - 1999 Tahoe

Is it the new body style or the old "box" body style truck?

Re: Cabin Filter Replacement - 1999 Tahoe

The cabin filter compartment is on the passenger side under the dash. I have a 01,though my repair manual where I got this information is for 99-01, so they should be similiar.Directly under the glove comparment, bottom of the dash there is a plastic shield with a couple of screws. Unscrew the shield, pull down or remove the shield. Under the shield there will be a retangle cover with one screw, remove cover and there is the cabin filter compartment. Reach up and remove one filter and you have to reach in the housing and remove the other. Reverse process to install.

I have a 99 Hoe and as far as I know, there are no cabin filters. New body style didnt come out on tahoe's until 2000.

Re: Cabin Filter Replacement - 1999 Tahoe

I did not consider the old body style, so 99 may not have the cabin filters as the 00 and up. Though, my repair manual did not indicate that 99 did not have them...

If your repair manual also covers the pick-ups, they changed body styles in 99. The Tahoe was a model year later.
