Does anyone know anything about panhandle bars? In another topic disscussing car handling some mentioned panhandle bars. I did a search on it and couldnt find nothing. I have an idea about what they are and I know what they do but could not find anything.

No panhandle bars. Heres a quote about it so you will have an idea of what it might be.
"bc of the 4 link has bad lateral control when under close to the limit conering the axle travels up to 2 inchs causeing the rear to almost steer it self and the mustang back end kicks out pretty easy. But dont get me wrong they handle well. It is just the bad lateral control if u buy a panhandle bar and correct this problem there is a huge difference" Im not sure what it is either but I have an idea of what he is talking about. The new Mustang for 2005 uses a panhandle setup with the suspension/rear axle to help improve cornering. EDIT: Turns out its panhard rod not panhandle. Yeah, like GTR_Driver said, Panhard Bar:
http://www.maximummotorsports.com/panhard.asp The info you got was mistyped. Not all that shocking when you read the entire quote, "conering...inchs...causeing...it self...dont."

Re: Panhandle bars?
I thought the new mustangs used an independant set up at the back?
If they still run a live axle, over 40 years after they became obsolete in a street car then I have just lost any and all respect I might have had for them as performance cars.

We were not talking about the 05 Mustang we were talking about previous gen Mustangs and the guy suggested panhard rods. As for whether the guy ment panhard rod or panhandle bar (something different) Ill ask to make sure.
