Re: Aluminum Wing
Have you tried using kitchen towel or toilet paper to apply/remove the metal polish, depending upon the finish of the wing cause kitchen towel/ toilet paper is slightly abrasive and might do more harm than good

Re: Aluminum Wing
A water ammonia mixture will work...I dunno what it'll do to any extra finish on the wing, but I bet anything it'll work.

Re: Aluminum Wing
Stealth,
NEVR-DULL is usually a fantastic product! I apply it, let it haze and then buff off with a very soft terry towel or M/F cloth! Usually removes everything in it's path for me! Now..for you problem.... For me..I would try a 50/50 water/white vinegar mix first! If that doesn't work, you can try the ammonia (60water/40ammonia)mix suggested by Andydq. AS ALWAYS...TEST ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE WING..in case the ammonia or even the vinegar has a etching or harmful affect on the wing! I doubt it will (the vinegar) and you might even want to try the vinegar straight??? So..make the mixture...pour or spray liberally onto a soft terry towel cloth, wipe with good pressure, and then wipe off with another soft terry towel! Then use NEVR-DULL after to bring the shine back up!

If it is not cleared, which most likely it's not, then you need to use a mild abrasive on it. I highly recommend the Rolite line of metal polishes. They come in 3 grades - abrasive, medium and mild. You may be able to do the job with the medium first then go for the mild to polish it all up. Add cornstarch to your final buffing and this will help remove the black residue so familiar with aluminum polishing. Here is where I get my Rolite from http://www.topoftheline.com/rolmetpolkit.html You can order the package or you can order them individually. Hope that helps, Anthony |
