Re: Diff Exploding

99.9999999999999999999999999% of the time, differentials explode from doing clutch drops. in fact, i have been witness to atleast 5-6 differentials exploding and all were on cars the drivers did burnouts/clutch dumps.

dont do burnouts and/or clutch dumps becuase you will explode the differential. Maybe not at that exact moment, but that adds stress and they can go at any time down the road, even if you drive like a granny.

Re: Diff Exploding

Yes when I bought my car the diff took a BIG dump. The reason was the fucktard use ATF fluid instead of MT fluid.

Re: Diff Exploding

My buddy blew his, along with a big hole in his tranny case. He was able to save some of it and jsut replace some parts of it (I have no idea what part or anything I just remember him telling me he was going to put it back together but instead bought an aftermarket one).

yea the first one i blew the back of the tranny off lol. this one kinda imploded lol.. so since the housings fine, i might try to get it rebuilt later on. i'm kinda thinkin of buying an Si tranny tho and a quaife diff and toss the si diff in my dx tranny and use the quaife in the si...

are the quaife diffs pretty much bullet proof?

Re: Diff Exploding

This will not work in the DX tranny. The diff bearing on the Si diff is too big. You must have a Si tranny case. In fact all but two bearings in the DX tranny are smaller than the Si tranny.

I've swapped input shafts from DX into Si trannies with no problem. what is this "differential bearing" you speak of? to my knowledge, DX and Si are 100% interchangeable. i have never seen a smaller bearing tranny and i've even worked with 88/91 hybrids (i.e. swapping a 91 DX input shaft into an 88 Si transmission)
