Angry Headlight Door Problem

My 1990 Eclipse GS's headlight doors are on the fritz. They do not go down. If I crank them down manually, and then turn the lights on, they go up on their own, but they do not go down when I turn them off. However, sometimes if I plug in my cell phone charger, I will get them to go down like once or twice, and thats it. I think that there might be a short in the electrical works somewhere.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Any help will be greatly apreciated Thanks

Re: Headlight Door Problem

to test for a short disconnect your negative battery terminal and hook a testlight or voltmeter between the negative battery cable and the positive battery terminal. if the testlight lights up or the voltmeter shows power that means that you have a short to ground somewhere in your electrical system. if the problem is only with your lights id clean and check the electrical plugs for them. also make sure that whatever hinge the light swivels on is clean and maybe spray some wd40 on it to be sure. try disconnecting the fuse for your cig lighter maybe your short is in the plug. its pretty common on 1g's.

btw before you ask neither of my cars have popup so i cant sell them to you. well i could....

Re: Headlight Door Problem

Check your button on the door jam. The little button that pops out when you open your door. clean that out. Its on your car.
