93 grand voyager, starts then stalls cold weather

I have a 93 grand voyager with the 3.3L engine. When the weather is cold, in the 30 degree or lower range, the van starts then stalls. This will happen over and over until you press and hold the gas pedel. Then the van starts and runs. If you let off the gas it will stall. Once the van is to temp its fine. All other times of year the van starts fine. This van seems to idle extremely low. If it were an old car I'd say that the idle was bad.

The dealership says I have to leave it because they have no idea what could be wrong. The throttle body and all were cleaned out about 15,000 miles ago and I can't imagine needs it already.

Has anyone else had this problem and what caused it? Right now its only a nusance as I have to sit in the van to keep it running until it gets to temp. When the snows come it will become more of a problem.

Update:
Checked the diagnostic codes today, got a #25 which is for the AIS. Went under the hood poking around and found the AIS motor unplugged. I don't understand why it would be unplugged?? Maybe it fell out? I know I sure didn't unplug it. I plugged it back in and had an awful time keeping the van running. The tach seems to show that the AIG is working, but who knows what damage was done with this unplugged. Morning will be the test for sure.

Mine is doing the same thing. Just started this winter now that it's really cold out. Have to drive to work with 2 feet to keep it running. Let me know what happened with your if you don't mind!

Well, it seems that the last time the dealership worked on my van they didn't plug the AIS (Automatic Idle Speed) motor in fully. As time went on it worked itself out of the connection. This appears to control the cold idle on the van.

We plugged it in and had one heck of a time keeping the van running. After several starts and stalls the van's computer recognized the module and now I have had no problems.

I'd check and see if there is anything unplugged under the hood. I knew from driving older cars that this was something to do with the choke, but being electronic I had no idea where to even start. I found the check engine light codes online and then sat in my van and watched the codes. That told me it was the AIG module and we started from there.

The other thing you may want to do is put some dry gas into your tank. If any moisture at all got in, it will cause problems like stalling. In the winter we usually put dry gas in once a month on a full tank of gas.
