I have an '00 Alero GLS. I know on the 2001 and above, they have different CD players in them. Of course, the connecting wires aren't the same fit for the newer CD players to the 99 - 00 years. Is there any way to make a newer CD player fit in an 00? Any sort of wire adaptors that can make everything similar to plug and play?
I asked a dealer, and he told me it should fit. Of course, I did some more research, and I know the wire connections are different by lookin' at the back of my CD player and a newer one. Any suggestions? Also, I have a coolant leak. It appears to be toward the right side of the car on the right side of the engine because the area around it seems to hold the leaked coolant. Any suggestions to that? Asked my dad and he said it should be an easy fix... |

Could be the intake manifold gasket, it's a comman problem with the 3.4 engines. I also have a 2000 Alero GLS. Now for the stereo, Get the wire harness adaptor for your car and a stock plug from a car from a junk yard and mate them together. You'll need too find out the color code for the stock plug for the year of stereo you have. I personally would just get a nice aftermarket stereo/CD player, it'd be easier then trying to use a factory one from a different year.

Would it be an easy fix? Something tells me no, but my dad says from the looks of it that it could be an easy fix because we can remove the parts around the leak and replace whatever is broken...
Another question surrounding the CD players for an Alero. I know since Oldsmobile is closing, they are offering XM radio in Alero's. I wonder if they are using the same CD/casette players they are putting in the '01 Alero and up. I had XM installed in my car, hiding the commander unit in the center console. I'd rather have the CD player that had the XM receiver in it. I remember when I had it installed, the guy asked me what year my car was because on the newer GM models, the radios were XM ready. So I wonder if the '01 and above CD/casette players were XM ready. |
