On Star and steering wheel lights
2001 Aurora 3.5. Two problems:
The steering wheel lights do not work. I took one of the modules out to replace a burned out bulb. When I replaced the module, none of the lights in that module or the other module would work. Right before I removed them, all but the one bulb worked when the headlights were on. It is not the bulbs. When I put a 12 volt trickle charger directly on the point where the bulbs connect to the circuit boards, all the bulbs work. When I placed a test meter on the leads at the end of the wiring harness that runs to each module, I get zero voltage for the leads that power the light bulbs. However, when I put the test meter on the same harness but to the leads that power the actual switches that control the fan and the radio, I get 12 volts and the fan and radio switches work. So for some reason, I am not getting voltage to the light bulbs. I just finished removing every single fuse under the engine and back seat, and visually examing and testing continuity with a test meter . They are all good. Second problem (related)? If you have On Star, you know that the telephone uses the radio speakers for listening purposes. Well, I cannot hear On Star. I talked to them. They said for some reason, the On Star and the radio are not connected. I do not know if this feature worked before. The radio is stock. Ideas please? |
