Re: 1/4 Mile for a 88' S-10 with a 350?
I had a 1987 S10, with a stock 350 4-bolt, 4bbl carb, turbo 350 auto transmission and the stock 4-cyl rear end (not sure gear ratio !!!) and I raced it for 2 years. My best time was 14.80 at 99 mph. That was also on street tires.
I was told I could easily take a second off my time if I went to slicks, but, tires are cheaper to replace then rear ends, so I kept the street tires. These things are alot of fun with a V8 in them.

there can be as much as 160 h.p. diffrences between " stock" 350's the late 70's fuel crunch wiped them down to about 165 horse. the old ones had somewhere between 300 and 350 horse.
in order to know what engine it really is you need the block casting # and the head casting #s 461, 461x 462,462x are the fuellie heads that should be on a 69. a 1969 with 1985 heads has the h.p. of an 85.mike |
