Question

Can't Access On board diagnostic..HELP!!

I have BMW 325 E36 OBDI and I've been trying to access the darn thing, by the whole depress gas 5 times within 5 seconds and nothing happens, the check engine insignio does nothing. HELP!!! Dealers, don't suspect DME though.
