ER... Um..... Of course it exists in the US, and you can find them for sale if you look hard enough. Basically the Type R is a stock racecar from Acura with 195hp. The GSR is more of a luxury, quick car with 170hp. Their engines are different in many ways, but we won't go into that.
Here are the US year and the color.
97-98 Championship White
00-01 Phoenix Yellow & Flamenco Back Pearl

The GSR. They made these from 94-01 so finding one should be a piece of cake. They don't have the handling and speed of the $expensive$ Type R, but they are an awesome alternative for a performance junkie. The aftermarket on these babies is huge. Plus a 94 or 95 won't be burning a hole in your pocket, I got my 95 for just 11G's with 60K on it. So you got alot of money left over for modding!

A TypeR wont be real easy to find. It is actually a "speacial edition" car (not like here in the US where special edition or race versions means nothing and they make 10,000 of them and all you get is fancier wheels and a spoiler) and they only imported about 200 a year here. Just go with a GSR, youll be happy.

You may have to go out of state depending on where you live to find a Type R. But hey, if you have the money then go for it!

Actually GSRs were introduced in 92 - i believe.
With the 2nd gens.

And you should be able to find a type R. Just keep looking.

The first year that they came out, they were limited. (only a couple thousand or so)

However 2 yrs later when they were re-introduced, they were NOT limited. There are tons of Type R's out there. Just not many for sale because people don't want to part with them so soon.

The earliest batch of NON limited edition type R's are only in the area of 5 or 6 yrs old. Considering how long Hondas last and the novelty of owning a type R, you won't find a whole lot for re-sale at this moment.

Don't give up - keep looking.

I saw one at the Nissan dealership near my house not long ago.
Didn't last even a week.

Wow...didn't know it was that hard to find a type r over there. They are pretty popular here. The GSR also known as VTIR was available here from 93 - 2000. The type R was available late 99 - 2001. Now we have the RSX Type S specs, but badged as a R. Apparently the fuels here aren't good enough for the jap spec.

Doesn't matter though, because I know of a couple jap spec type R's that have just been imported over

Oh, and the Type R 99 - 2001 model was available in yellow, white, red, and black here.
