2000 Durango Idle Problems

Hello,

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango that has an idle problem. When I first start the car in the morning it idles at about 2000 rpms for the first 30 seconds, then drops back down which is normal. But then when I am driving down the road and approach the stoplight, the rpms jump up and down, between 1000-1500 rpms for a few seconds before returning to normal. This is very dangerous because the car jumps forward when idling like this, which has me concerned about hitting a car in front of me at a light sometime. Also, I can put the car in park or neutral after driving for a while and the rpms instantly rise to 2000-2500 rpms for a few and then they drop back down. Any ideas?
Thanks

Check The Idle Air Control Valve.is Located At The Rear Of The Throttle Body.

Might also be the throttle position sensor.

Re: 2000 Durango Idle Problems

I had the same problem and replaced the TPS and it did the trick. It's been running great since.
