squeeling

uaually when its colder outside and the engine is cold i will start my geo and th belt will slip and squeel and the only way it will stop is to shut it off and start it again the belt is tight and i thought it was the alternator but i had it rebuilt so it has new bearings i was wondering if there is any way i can stop it and if anyone else is having this problem

replace the belt, if the pully is causing the slip it wont matter how tight you get it! My trick is to heat the belt before install in the oven for a few minutes then do the install.

I'd agree with mik13usa. Once a belt starts slipping it becomes glazed and tightening it doesn't always solve the problem. If it's tightened to specs. and it still slips, just replace it and set the tension to it proper spec.
