Brake pedal problem

I just noticed that when I press on my brake pedal it seems "squishy". THe brake pedal is pressing farther down to the floor and brakes are ingaging slower because of this. If I pump the brake pedal the brake pedal becomes stiffer and working the way it should but the next time I apply the brakes it is squishy again and pedal pushes further down. What the hell is the problem??? Fluid is right to the full line. NO leaks. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Theres either air in the lines or the fluid is just old and shitty. either way flushing the system will cure it.

Re: Brake pedal problem

Thanks guys. I know you guys know your shit and I appreciate the help. I was thinking about getting braided brake lines so I guess I'll flush the brake system and put new fluid in anyways. Anyone ever install these braided brake lines? Anything I should know or procedure I should follow?

Re: Brake pedal problem

putting the SB lines are pretty easy just be careful about rounding the head off of the stock lines b/c they have been on there a while

Re: Brake pedal problem

That sounds like the same thing that happened to my accord... a o-ring or something went bad in the master brake cylender and I had to get a new one..so u could have same prob..

When i went to stop at a stoplight..i could push the pedal say halfway down and hten the car would stop..but a few second later it would start rollling forward and i would have to apply more brake pressure..

Re: Brake pedal problem

Brakes are worst today than yesterday. Brake Pedal goes right to the floor every time I press on it. Brakes ingage when pedal is right to the floor at the last second. Is this still a sign that my brake lines need to be bleed or possibly something else???

Re: Brake pedal problem

I would try the steel braided hoses, it's a good upgrade anyway and if it fixes it it was most likely a leak in the line.

Re: Brake pedal problem

OK....just called Advanced Auto Parts and they quoted me $58.88 plus my shot Master Brake Cylinder for a new (or rebuilt??) Master Cylinder so I'm going to go with that. I went on the Nissan Parts web site and they wanted almost $200. Forget that!!! Thanks for the help guys!!!
