K&N Filter

Anyone know if or when K&N will make air filters for the 2000 g20? I been looking around, and I can only find them up to the year 95 or 96. I also heard someone say that our filters are the same as in the se-r. Is that true? If so then whats the latest year that they make k&n filters for the se-r?

oops my bad, wrong part number, try typing in 1999 or 2001 instead of 2000, it should give you the part number 33-2031-2, thats one the one you want

Are you 100% sure that the 33-2031-2 filter will fit the year 2000 models?

if you aren't totally sure,
just drive your g down to local kragen and pop out stock air filter.
take it inside to compare with the k&n.
piece of cake.

Oh ok cool. Now...is the K&N filter worth getting? I heard the good stuff about it, but is there noticable increases in performance or anything like that? Also all that cleaning sounds time consuming...or is it not? Thanks

koojo,
check this llink out

Cleaning an Air Filter

I just got my K&N at lunch today, so I don't know what it's really like, but can't be too bad, right?
Anyone actually cleaned/re-oiled one before?
How long?...I'm guessing 10-15 minutes.

Koojo ..cleaning is a piece of cake ..takes about 30 minutes to do ..but most of that is waiting for the cleaner agent to clean the filter. then its a simple rinse and reoil. Baddabing.

Ya i guess cleaning is alright. Do you have to wait for it to dry? If ya then i'd probably pop in my stock filter and drive around for a few hours on that until the k&n dries. But is the whole thing worth getting though?

i installed mine last night, and noticed immediate improvements.
acceleration is quite a bit quicker.
I don't know how much of that is in my head, and how much real
(damn, I need a dyno installed at my house)

I figure it's worth getting one,
cause:

a. the K&N should last 1.000.000 miles, no buying new ones, ever.

b. it's super easy...no tools at all.

c. saving the environment...less filters in landfills...awww, how nice

d. The MOST inportant reason, of course, is the Sticker!
we all know that the more obviously visible the sticker is, the more hp!

oh yeah- i think you should let it air dry before oiling it.

later

actually you get two stickers.
one that says 'stop, don't remove this air cleaner' so the mechanic doesn't throw your $40 filter away,
and a regular K&N sticker.

I think it was a little over $40, then tax etc....about 45-50 bucks.

yeah, it's alot for just a filter, but if you plan on having the car for a while, it should pay for itself.

take care.

Go Lakers!

no, it's just the stock filter replacement.
you don't change any parts, just the filter.
Kragen carries them, or go to knfilters.com and find a dealer near you
