third door

I have an extended cab with a third door. The third door wont open so I took out the handle and pulled on the rods. The upper latch released but the lower latch wouldn't. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My beast of a girlfriend borrowed my truck and the handle broke under her strength too, I dunno how to go about getting at that without the door open though, how did you do that?

By the way, my girlfriend is tiny, that was just in fun.

Alright guys I can help on this one.I just did this a few months ago,cause mine broke too.The top latch rod pulls down and the lower latch rod pulls up.You said you pulled the handle assembly out and you pulled the upper latch rod down.Now all you have to do is pull the lower rod up and it should release.With door open,take off the seat belt from the door.The panel then just pops off.Now you can see how it works.Lube up your bottom and top latch and where the rods hook to.Put a new handle in.Shut the door and try to open it with the handle,because it has to be adjusted(the rods) just right to work.Snap your panel back on after you made sure the door latches and opens.Put seat belt back on and your done.

I pulled up on the bottom one as well but it doesn't seem to do anything, like the bottom latch is stuck

Try and pull harder as well as shake the door in and out.It should release.
