Good day everyone. My '97 Venture will not automatically lock the doors anymore once you shift it into gear. Conversely, it will not automatically unlock the doors once you place it in park and turn the ignition off. Any ideas?
Also, an unrelated question. Most lights on my radio have burned out. How do I replace these? Thank you, Rick |

Re: Auto-lock/unlock not working
Rick,
Do the locks still work when using the Remote or buttons on the door(s)? Also check you Backup Lights (and fuse). Repair manual shows that the transaxle range switch (shifter) gets its power through that circuit/fuse. Owners manual says it is fuse # 27 in the engine compartment (this is a 2001 manual). Take care, Greg A. |

Thanks to Greg A. for the suggestions. I found out that the solution is just a simple program setting. According to the manual, you can change the settings of locks, interior lights, etc by making a couple adjustments on your own. There is a fuse that you must pull from the passenger fuse panel. (something like 'BCM PRGRM') Then ,turn the key to the accessory position. Then, hit the lock button on the door until you hear three chimes. return the fuse & it is all set.

Re: Auto-lock/unlock not working
I own two 97 Ventures , and one of them has this problem. I've had to reprogram it a few times the way rceyba mentions. Don't know why it only happens to one of the vans and not the other, and why it happens every so often.
