Keyless entry

My 97 K2500 should have keyless entry but the last owner never used it and does not have the fobs for it. Can I buy any fob for that year suburban and programme it to work or does it have to have a set seriel number matched to the vehicle. If it needs a set number is there anywhere on the vehicle I could find this out? Not many Chevy dealers over here so any help would be appreciated.

Re: Keyless entry

All you need to find out is the P/N of the fob to buy. Any dealer should be able to look that up for you over the phone.

After you get the fobs there are many posting on this site for programming.

Thumbs up Keyless entry

Thanks for that I will find a dealer in the states and get in touch with them direct rather than go through one over here.

Re: Keyless entry

Check out the thread "key fob programming", last edited on 9-28-04. It explains how to program a key fob so if you get the correct one for your year, you should be able to match the frequecy of your truck.
