Tomorrow morning I am doing a debate in US history class. The debate topic is the vice presidential candidates, and I am taking the side of Edwards. Now, in real life I support Bush and Cheney, so I don't really know where to start. I have to write the opening statement for my side. What do you guys consider the weak points of the current administration, vice presidents in particular? I need some good stuff that will just be like BAM!

I hope someone reads this before 4:00 AM... cause after I finish this and my massive spanish report I am goin' to bed.

the current administration cant be trusted.
the terrorists responsible for 9/11 remain at large.
Iraq remains in chaos because the present administration didn't plan for the inevitable backlash.
over a million more unemployed than 4 years ago.
Manufacturing sector abandoning the US taking millions of jobs to developing nations.
And instead of looking back at his performace over the past 4 years,or forward to what he can do for America,the president and his supporters would rather sling mud at a three times decorated war veteran for daring to say that there might be a better future for the average working guy if Mr Bush were to admit that he's blown it ,and step down.

The weak points of the current administration? Tell ya what, buy the "George W. Bushisms" book and read out the best (or should that be worst) ones to the class. It should be fairly obvious that the man shouldn't be trusted with any kind of managerial position, let alone running the world.

Many people say “young” and “inexperienced” as if it is a bad thing. Perhaps it is just what this country needs. For years, particularly in the last 4, we have been led by men that have fought their way up the political ladder, at a great expense to their own psychological health. A competent, decisive figure who is able to relate to the people is who this country needs as the next Vice President. John Edwards is a man that has not been hardened by decades in the political realm, he is a man that is accepting and open minded, yet decisive and unyielding. by Cheney, on the other hand, is neither; he has views that he allows to be mowed over by others, such as his position on gay marriage. He is simply a puppet for the administration! Does anyone even know what his true position on Iraq is? Do we really think that the man who was, and is, Chief Executive Officer of Haliburton, Inc., the company awarded the no-bid government contract for rebuilding Iraq, is who we should have in such an important position in our government in this time of crisis? How do we know that the company’s announced 7 billion dollar profit from this contract alone is not serving as his ulterior motive, with the elusive “weapons of mass destruction” simply serving as a smokescreen to deceive the American people? Clearly, in respect to our economy, our environment, our finances, and our sons and daughters currently risking their lives in the armed forces for a pointless, meandering war which we are not winning, John Kerry and John Edwards are the proper choice for America in this critical election year of 2004.


Remember, I think that what I just wrote is just about the biggest flaming heap of bullshit that I have ever concocted.

Considering that this thread was for a debate paper, just for arguments sake can someone pick this up for me...sorry I was bored. No offense intended.

I have to call BS on this one. I work in the oilfield and you just cannot hire enough people to fit the demand. And what about the military...how many more people enlisted after 9/11?
