93 cavalier rad hoses

this past summer i experienced problems with my 93 cavalier overheating. After putting in two thermostats and ruling out a water pump problem, had the head gasket replaced. Yesterday i was back at the garage with holes in my rad hoses (could see the coolant spraying out of one of the hoses). My question is how long should it take to replace the two rad hoses. I didn't think it would be that hard a job, but was billed for 2 hours labor. Does it really take that long?

Did you take your car to the dealership? Dealerships charge by the book. What I mean is if the book says a job takes two hours, then they charge for two hours work, even if the do the work in an hour. And no I don't think changing the rad hoses should take two hours. You should have changed them yourself and saved the money.

Mike-you indicated that you installed a new gasket---do it yourself? if no, was it accomplished reasonably? $$

My 99 2.2 was overheating last week--pepboys wanted to charge me close to 800 for new heater coil---didn't go for that....bypassed heater,
installed new thermostat..check other components----still overheated!

Is this the way that you went also...how did you learn that it was the gasket?
