Tokico Illumina Suspension Kit.

Comes with Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable shocks, and a set of spring to lower the car 1.5". $570, good deal??? also, will i need a camber kit?

Those shocks alone are ~450 bucks, so I'd say thats a good price. I definitely wouldnt bother with camber kits, just be SURE to have the car aligned imediately and ask them to set the front to ZERO toe. I've explained why elsewhere on the site.

Search! Believe not the internet myths of camber kits! Not the first time I've challenged the internet experts either, the EGT situation is one example. This is why I tell you guys to try these things out for yourselves, you never know when you will find something that will tip the internet experts on thier heads and change the way we think about modding/tuning our cars.

you know, i've been following those illuminas & spings for about a year on ebay. right now the shocks are the lowest ive ever seen them. $335 + $20 shipping.

Kevin, I read everything again. For a 1.6" Eibach pro-kit with Tokico Illuminas on my spyder, I just want my 225/45/17's to LAST. Ride comfort is secondary. Excuse me for being thick as a brick even after having read your thread a couple of times, but what should I tell the alignment shop to do? I already purchased a Revo Technica camber kit ages ago because I thought camber was the only issue, but ofcourse now i know better. So the toe...what do I tell the shop? Set it at 0?

My previous spyder was SLAMMED more than 2" with Tokico HPs and horrid springs. But I also had a camber kit. The inner side of the rears STILL wore out very quickly, and the $500 I had saved for a CF hood had gone to a set of new tires, sigh.

Im just really confused about this because there are a zillion opinions floating around, but I'd rather do what you say. What do I tell the shop?

Set for zero toe, yes.

The tires leaning in from camber puts more presure on the inside of the tire. But that doesnt wear it out. Its no different than putting that tire on a heavier car. But when you drop a car and it toes out (wheels point outwards, like you are steering both ways at the same time) the tires are dragged sideways, and that will clean the tread off in a hurry. If you are wearing the rears, the toe is off. It is actually adjustable, but I've never had to mess with mine. The shop may not know its adjustable, and they may not know how to do it. But its worth pressing the issue, tires arent cheap. If the toe goes out from lowering the car, front or rear, fixing the camber wont do shit for the toe, and therefore wont do shit for tire wear.

Now, none of this is to say that you shouldnt do a camber kit. But getting the camber right can be tricky, and most of the kits that a re fixed give the wrong amount of positive camber (in my case it was too much), or are a pain in the ass to adjust (like front offset bushigns, and they wear out fast). I have never seen the need on my car, and that money has been put to better use. I take that back, I did buy the camber kits and they are in a drawer in the garage somewhere, dammit.

Thanks KEvin that helped a lot. I had no clue TOE was such an issue because no one ever mentined it. It had always been about camber for some reason. Even in my autoshop class. TOE = 0. gotcha. would you know if local tire places install camber kits if i bring one in? Or is it a specialist job?

Found an Illumina Kit @ www.coximport.com for 602.00 That is shocks and springs.

I dont think the tire shops do any work. They have always just given me a piece of paper with boxes checked for what I needed replaced. But a typical shop should be able to do it, if you trust them with normal suspension work.
