4afe without/egr??

I'm replacing an engine in my 1997 toyota corolla (4afe engine) that has the EGR.

I went to a salvage yard and purchased a used 1997 4afe engine which turns out to actually be 1993-95 engine and doesn't have the EGR. (non california spec, which i didn't know till after i bought the engine)

I thought about swapping the manifolds but the cylinder head on the engine i bought doesn't have the opening for the EGR

So my question is.. will the ECM still manage the replacement engine ok without the EGR? From looking at the engine everything else on it is the same.

please help
