Thumbs down Shaking driver's side rear view mirror

I was wondering if anybody also has noticed that their driver's side rear view mirror shakes/vibrates when going down the highway? Mine has done it since the day I bought it.

Re: Shaking driver's side rear view mirror

Does it have a bug-guard on the front? That can cause it. Also, there is something that holds the mirror steady that can go bad and has to be replaced. I'm not familiar with it because I haven't personally had the problem.

Re: Shaking driver's side rear view mirror

Mine doesn't do that, but it does turn itself inwards when the wind is strong or when the truck is moving very fast. The passenger side mirror never moves though. I was told that you have to take the plastic piece off the inside of the door, and tighten something in there so it makes the mirror harder to move. I've never tried it because taking these plastic panels on and off is a bitch, I took the passenger side panel off and I was never able to get it back on with all the snaps snapped in...

You mean the door panels? They are a bitch. Mine rattled for a long damned time before I finally got enough of them back on to stop the rattle. I hate plastic.

Re: Shaking driver's side rear view mirror

They could have built the interiors a little bit better. You can't have a decent sound system in these trucks without shaking the whole interior apart. My windshield-mounted rear view mirror fell off this summer, but I don't know if that was caused by the heat or the vibrating. The driver's side A-pillar plastic piece fell off too. Cheap.

Plastic is cheap, and anything made out of it is only temporary, even if it's made to be permanent.
