Unhappy 1990 Lesabre power seat problem

PLease help. I put the backrest part of my passenger seat back and now I can't get it to come back up. It is power. Is there any other way to get it back up? Or does anyone know where I can find a new switch? Or How I can find out if the switch is bad or if it is the motor? It is very difficult to ride in this seat since there is nothing to rest your back against. PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!

Re: 1990 Lesabre power seat problem

For a quick fix have a look under the seat and see if you can see the motor that drives the seat back. If you can, you may be able to turn the motor by hand to get the seat back up. Be carefull that no one tries the motor while you are doing this. It also may help if someone else is taking the weight off the seat back while you turn the motor by hand.
Good luck

Re: 1990 Lesabre power seat problem

I'd take it out, turn it over, turn it apart, and just see what happens. If nothing else, I'd get to have enjoyment of disassembling it.

Then I'd probably go to the hardware store, buy some bolts, drill some holes, and make the seat so it doesn't recline. Either that, or the seat would end up with a washing machine motor in it and would subsequently launch people through the sun roof when un-reclining.

What is the opposite of "to recline" anyway. How strange.
