Just swapped cluster

I just swapped out my cluster last night, there was a secondary in the back seat when I bought it. Now im not sure what it is off of, it fits though. The old cluster for some reason had no Tach, the new one does. Shouldn't the tach respond even if im parked with the E-brake on starting it up and revving? I'm a little confused. Sorry this may be a stupid question. *noob* Also the only light that comes on when I turn on interior lights is the brights on my cluster..shouldn't all of the LED's turn on? Thanks!

Re: Just swapped cluster

The STD don't have a tach, but the Si and EX do. I'm not sure why you're lights and tach are acting weird though. Make sure your connections are good...

All the connections seemed good. The tach doesn't light up. I mean nothing lights up except the "brights" l.e.d. But all the connections came together perfectly and it looked like a good cluster. Any good way to test anything on the tach or to make sure something isn't fuxored up? Aside from the obvious like checking to make sure no wires are split, etc..

Re: Just swapped cluster

well mate if i was you i would just use your old speedo in the old frame of the cluster and swap over the temp/fuel and rev counter, i done it on my EF and it worked fine, check for any bare wires earthing out anyway or touching ,

It fit perfectly so im guessing its compatible since the connections were place the same..but is there anyway for me to check what kind of tach it is and can I test any of the lights or meters with anything other than the car itself?

Re: Just swapped cluster

ok after reading that it must be the wrong tach, post up pics of it, it doesnt sound like its the right tach, the clusters from 88-89 and 90-91 are different so it may be one of them, if not it may be out of the wrong model honda,

I don't have a digital camera, I will see if I can find it online somewhere and then let you know what model it is from. And post the pic.

Just remembered also! When I mounted the other cluster the attatchments were shorter than the stock and it was a little more rounded on attatchments where you screw it into the dash as well. Still fit snug, but a little different.

It looks just like this one! Except the back didn't look exactly like this, but front is the same. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...929463207&rd=1
