1992 s10 - 2.8 V6 - Wiper Motor ?

I am new to the forum. If I new it was here I would have joined long ago. I have a couple of questions.

My wipers quit on me, of course during the rain, and I need to replace to wiper motor I guess. Does the wiper motor control the washer fluid as well? Just curious because it does not work either. Anything to check before I go ahead and replace the motor? Any online how to's or pictures?

Also, I have a similar oil pressure issue that I have read about. My pressure flucuates, but recently it is being pegged at the top except during idle. Is it a big deal to replace the oil pressure sensor? or should I.

Thanks

I just had the same problem with my 91. I went and got a junk yard wiper motor and that one did not work either. So I replaced the switch in the steering column which was a total bitch to do and it still would not work. It ended up being a bad ground on the wiper motor itself. Try and ground the motor and see if that helps. It could also be the circuit board under the wiper motor cap if you have one with delay.

Thanks for the info. Being a novice, how would I ground the motor?

Just take a piece of wire and touch it to the aluminum housing on the wiper motor and run the other end to your neg. battery cable. If this does not work make sure that you have power coming to the motor by unplugging it and using and ohm meter to check the connector.

Thumbs down Follow up Wiper / Fuse question

OK. So I checked my fuse first and yes, the fuse was blown. So, I replace the fuse and the wiper work. However, when I try to use the mist option (which just wipes once) the fuse blows. So, I replace the fuse again and all is good as long as I dont use the mist. What might be causing this problem? Is the switch bad? I would have to replace the entire turn signal / wiper switch? That sounds more involved. Any help would be appreciated.

I would check the washer pump first. If that checks out fine then yes, you will have to take apart the steering column and replace the switch. It is a real pain in the a$$ that requires a steering wheel puller and another tool to hold down the plate once you get the steering wheel off so that you can remove a meta clip. You will see what I am talking about once the steering wheel is pulled.
