1993 10 Disk CD Changer

Hi Everyone!

I have a 1993 Town Car Signature series. I am looking to put the optional 10 disk CD changer into it. I found one on eBay that the buyer said was from a 93 Lincoln. But when I got it and looked to hook it up to the wiring harness in the trunk, what's there isn't anything like the ones on the unit. Any thoughts on what harness I need to get this to work? The part number on the changer is F4VF-18C830-AA.

I once had 2 1992 Town Cars and I wanted to put the Factory changer in. But doing some research lead me to the fact that the 1992-1994 CD changers have no aftermarket support. The 1995- present apparantly are supported.

Finding the right cables and connectors is going to be a pain. I know Ford does not support the changer anymore.

I don't know what car the one you bought was from. But I'd imagine that you are going to have to get a Factory Wiring Diagram to see just how the factory setup is. And even then there is no gaurantee that it would work because the connector may not be at the head unit. I have a FSM and it does not even show what cables go to where. And even then most units are hit or miss with playing CD-R (some with 1995s have mentioned this so I would assume the same for the 1992-1994 changers).

The 1995-present will not work in your car because the stereo system is entirely different. The head unit in these cars work off the RCU (Remote Chassis Unit) and it is the brains of the stereo. It holds the presets for the radio stations and is where the antenna plugs into.

I would strongly suggest just going with a aftermarket head unit with MP3 play back and that would be superior to any 1992-1994 CD changer.
