Re: sohc pistons same as dohc, right?

early 89's had 8.6:1
the rest of the sohcs had 9.1:1
all dohc's had 9.5:1

yes the pistons will interchange.. its sort of a cheap mod to do for some more horsepower if ur running N/A..... or even small amount of boost

edit* thats SOHC pistons into a DOHC block....

Actually The Sohc Pistons Raise The Compression Of A Dohc Over 10 To 1 (although I Forget The Exact Number)

Yes You Can Use Dohc Pistons To Lower The Compression..... Its A Common Swap Because Its Cheap.

i think you can do it in the car, im not sure yet, i did my stang and my blazer with engine in the car, but dont know about the 240 engines and how hard or easy it would be from the bottom. Id say as long as you can take off the oil pan at the bottom and have no problem getting to the rod bolts then you should be fine, and ofcourse you would have to take off the head to push the pistons out on top...
