300zx reliability
I was thinking about getting a 300zx the only problem is that I only have about $7500 available. All the 300zx's that I am finding in this price range have about 110,000+. I just wanted to know whether it is worth it to get one with this high of mileage or will I end up being plauged with repairs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 300zx reliability
For that amount you can find a great Zed.
But Zeds are tough to work on, and expensive to get work done to... Go in knowing that. But for that amount of money you should have no problem finding a good 300ZedX. Now first thing to do when you get your new baby... Get a Racing Timing Belt put on ASAP. Timing belts are the main cause of dead VGs. Keep her maintained and dont be cheap, and she'll be a good car for you. -Wes

Re: 300zx reliability
$7500 should be a good amount of money to get a nice zed. one with a little bit over 100k miles isn't bad if it has been taken care of. so also if you take car of her, she will take care of you.

Re: 300zx reliability

Can't see it being an issue, the Z32 cockpit is plenty big and the seat slides back pretty far. If nothing else, just take the T-Top off the driver side.

I'D LIKE TO ADD A WARNING. If you get one be prepared to have one parked in your driveway the rest of your life. And when it gone to shop or sold it's like you've lost a arm or something, something you'll really miss. Getting a divorce you'll get through, but losing you Z, it's almost unbearable. So now you've been warned. Be ready to enjoy one of the finest cars you've ever driven or owned. This is most likely the worse part of Zed owership and most owners don't talk about, the bond they have with there car.
You don't want to F**k with my kids, my dog or my Zed. |

Re: 300zx reliability
Dude Im 6'6" and I've had three Zeds... Fit in them all fine.
Only thing is I've had to get automatics because I couldnt go into first gear because my knee would stop it from going into gear. But you being only 6'3", you should be fine for any model. -Wes

Re: 300zx reliability
well so far my Z has been good to me! if your buying a Z with around 110k mile or more have some extra cash save up cause you might want to do the timing belt. or asked the previous owner to see if it has even been done!

Re: 300zx reliability
Little FYI: You could get an immaculate, like new, low milage turbo 5-speed Z31 and still have some money left for mods...see my sig if you don't know what that is. They're cheaper, less costly to work on, simpler to work on (SOHC, no fancy intake manifold or dual throttle bodies, no variable valve timing, etc), and can be made quite fast on a slim budget. And I'm ~6' and can comfortably recline the passenger seat and lay completely flat with room to spare...and my car is a 2 seater...you shouldn't have a fitment problem in my car, either. Just my
