1997 Dakota Possible Tranny problem?
Any suggestions:
Have a 1997 Dakota magnum V-8. Has just short of 111,000 miles on it. Been experiencing this problem: Within the first few miles of driving especially when I'm accelerating from a stopped position turning left or right the truck will rev up without moving and then it seems to "slam" into gear occasionally chirping the tires. Only does this for a short time and then everything seems to run fine. Tranny fluid was checked and seems to be be fine and at an appropriate operating level The truck doesn't get alot of miles and is driven only every other day or so. Just had a complete tune up (runs a ton better) but was having this problem before and still since the tube up. TIA |

Re: 1997 Dakota Possible Tranny problem?
Three things to check. Check the fluid, hot, in nuetral. Next would be the trans filter, doubtful but it sure sounds like you trans pump is losing prime. Next is the trans pump. Not real common but Ive replaced a few for a loss of prime.
