There have been a handful of people that have done an RWD conversion on a DSM. Some with a live axle swap, some with the Mighty Max truck drivetrain.

Also another alternative is to take a FWD DSM and put the motor in the back of the car using the AWD rear suspension. The front axles will fit in the rear hubs.

I contemplated this before deciding to go AWD. There has been one person to my knowledge that has put an engine in the rear and the car runs fine. The advantages would be a true midengine RWD car with a weight distribution like a porsche 40/60 and not like a 60/40 nose heavy standard DSM.

But the fabrication would be immense.

Re: What about a DSM Drift Project???

aves911...can you give me the site of the eclipse with the mid-engine pics?
Oh yeah, that rear wheel drive Eclipse is Bret Rau's Eclipse that hits 7s.

They do have a site, but I don't know the URL off the top of my head. Head over to Tooners and search for 'twin engine Talon'. Hell, now that I think about it you can probably find it on Google too.

Re: What about a DSM Drift Project???

Brent's is only one of the few RWD DSMs.

I can't take the thread seriously. An AWD DSM would make a horrible drift car. Why start with a DSM instead of a drift platform?
