'01 GT Dome light, radio, and door lock lights
The dome lights on my '01 Grand Am GT stay on after I start up the car and stay on until I drive away. As soon as I come to a stop, the lights come on again and the same thing starts over. When I normally shut the car off, the radio will stay on until I open the door. Now as soon as the car is turned off, the radio will turn off. Also, when I would lock the car with the remote, the headlights would flash and the horn would beep. Now it just locks.
I tried replacing the door lock relay with no success. Any ideas? |

Re: '01 GT Dome light, radio, and door lock lights
Sounds like one of the door switches is bad. They are the ones that turn on the lights when you open a door.

Re: '01 GT Dome light, radio, and door lock lights
Right (what poncho said)
It makes a little more sense when you understand that the vehicle is designed to turn off interior lighting due to a door being opened when the vehicle is moving. That explains the first thing you mentioned The radio staying not staying on is also an indication of same problem (vehicle always thinks a door is opened). The last thing might have happened if you inadvertently changed the vehicle personalization feature in your vehicle and turned off remote activation verification, however I thought you could only disable the horn chirp If you have your owners manual look that up (page 2-12). http://www.mygmlink.com/pdf/go2conte...001grandam.pdf Since you aren't complaining about key in ignition warning without driver door opened I would say the problem is not with your driver door. |
