Question blower direction control

i have a 93 grand am se 2.3 with 170,000 miles. i cannot get the air to blow out of the correct areas on the ac. it seems to want to stay in the middle blowing in my face even when i put it on another setting. sometimes it will go to where i have it set and then it will come back down. the ac compressor is not plugged up. i was told i have a vacum leak. is this true? its really annoying when i want the heat on the windshield or my feet and it in my face.

there is a small vacumn hose behind the drivers side headlight that gets schaffed and leaks move the battery to find it and splice it with a piece of washer hose

vent selection

after i tore my dash panel apart looking for a vacumn leak, a mechanic at the dealer told me to look for the leak behind the headlight on the drivers side i had to move the battery to get at it the vacumn line it rubs against the metal until there is a hole you can tape it but cut 1" out and join it with a small piece of hose from your parts store (very easy fix)
