01 rear hatch will not open with remote

The rear hatch on a 01 Grand Caravan will not open with the remote. Once the button is pressed, you can hear the gears trying to unlock it, but it will not open. It will work with the key though. Any ideas?

I have the same problem with my 01 T&C, it used to work fine with the remote, now, it does the same thing, it beeps and tries to unlock and that's it. Hopefully, someone has had a similar problem and can relate to it.

open the hatch and then use a screwdriver to reset the latch so that it will be latched in the open position.....then try you remote to see if it pops the latch.....if it does, it might be binding when the hatch is closed......your the motor could be bad.....
