Shifting problem

I have read a lot about peoples gears grinding on here... but i dont kno exactly whats wrong with my 94 gsr .... it doesnt shift as smoothly as other cars i have driven ... i drove my friends gti vr6 and another friends prelude sh... and both are much smoother ... there isnt a grinding noise when i shift or nething except when its moving and i try to put it into reverse .... but its just not as smooth its kinda choppy ....ne ideas ??

i know what ur talking about, im thinking its just normal cuz its been like that with every teg ive driven, if not, may be its a worn out bushing or something...

hmm, same thing happens with my car doesn't bother me really just reverse is sometimes a whore to get into.

Well when you think about it might be something to worry about if your the only person who is having that problem but if it's something a lot of people expirience without problems it shouldn't be something to worry about...plus I think it may be the shifter bushing, it wouldn't hurt to replace them.

Yea dude i kno ... thats what i was sayin ... if i was the only one i would think that somethin was seriously wrong but now that i kno a lot of others are expreiencing it ...it doesnt worry me too much ...yea ill probably replace the bushings

drain and refill your MTF, from what I've been told, using honda Manual Tranny Fluid will make it shift almost like new.

also...you gotta keep in mind that your car is rod shifted....the other cars you metioned were cable shifted....horse of a different color there.

I thought I had answered this thread...but apparently not...drain the MTX fluid, and replace with REDLINE...you'll definantly notice a difference.

yea ive heard gm syncromesh is really good ... could someone tell me which one exactly i would need and how much ...dont want to get the wrong one and not be able to take it back ....also, where can i get it ...thanks a lot

Your car is not designed to be shifted into reverse while moving, it is not synchronized to do that. that is why it is hard to get into reverse sometimes when it is stopped too... simply put not everything is lined up when putting it into reverse like it is when shifting from like 1st-2nd.
