Check Engine!!!

The past couple days have been raining like crazy down here in so cali. When I was on my way to work today I couldn't help but go thru a couple of deep puddles and after I went thru the first one my check engine light came on and my Civic started to struggle. After driving it for a while longer it started to drive like normal again. The only problem is that my check engine light is still on. What can I do to get that to shut off?

-Peace

Where do you live in So Cal. I live in L.A. and when I was going to school, an intersection was flooded all the way up to the sidewalk. I had to park my car go out in the rain and take of the extension pipe I have for a cold air intake. I like rainy days but not when I'm in my car.

Re: Check Engine!!!

I live in Huntington Beach. I was heading to work in Anaheim and Fairview was flooded up to the sidewalk too. Lucky I had just put my stock air box back on (getting it smoged this week) so I didn't have that prob.

Still my car was not happy that I gave my engine a bath in that massive puddle...

Re: Check Engine!!!

If it comes back, dont clear it immediately! Go ahead and check out what fault code registered so that you know what happened. To do so turn the key to ON, but dont start it. Remove the passenger side kick panel and find the double female connector sitting in the blue protective rubber covering. Use a wire to jump the two sides of the connector and look at the check engine light as it begins to flash. Tell me what the flashes were, and I'll give you the corresponding trouble code.
