Question Mill the head?

Ok I am putting together a fresh built Y8. I am going to have the head plained to make sure it's flat. I was thinking of milling it to bump up c/r. How much do I need to have it milled to tell a difference? Also this won't effect the head bolt tightness would it?

Re: Mill the head?

it will affect cam timing. I would suggest just milling it flat. If you want higher compression (high enough to make a difference) then get high compression pistons. milling the head in conjunction with a thinner head gasket *might* bump up your compression .2

Re: Mill the head?

I have 10.5:1 SRP's just wanted a little higher bump. What kind of head gasket will help the c/r on a Y8?

Well the y8 already has the thinnest head gasket, Maybe I suggest getting a new y8 head gasket and removing a layer of the gasket, It will bump it up a little. Or try to find an aftermarket head gasket that is thinner.

..Or get the head milled/resurfaced.
