Broken power window cable

Based on inspection, it appears that the front passenger side power window cable is broken in my 99 Cherokee. Motor seems to run fine. has anyone ever attempted this repair? How tough is it? Anyone ever pay to have it done? How much was it? Thanks

Sam

do you hear a ratcheting sound when you try the window
could be the gear that drives the cable

In any case you need to take the motor out of the door and you may find the cable housing is press fit or riveted to the motor housing you will be able to see better once the motor is out of the door

should not be to difficult once the door panel is off completely
(tight spot alert) the door handle lock assembly is tricky with those rods not giving you much room to remove and reinstall
note the position of the rods when you remove
those little clips pop off the rod and swing away allowing the rod to lift out of the center hole (carefull they are plastic)
to reinstall you will need needle nose pliers small screwdrivers 3 hands and LOTS of patience

this can be done (just dont start an hour before dinner)
good luck man
