EGR Solenoid
I have 1995, 3.4L, OBDII, and the engine service light comes on after about 10 minutes of driving, but clears itself after turning ignition off.
Borrowed code analyzer from Reilly's Auto Parts, analyzed it as soon as the light came on, and the cause code was 77 EGR Solenoid #3 fault. The EGR consist of three solenoids, each one riveted to the metal casting which houses the valves, and the cluster of three cost almost $300.00. I think the #3 solenoid works some of the time because the light comes on only after the engine has been running for 10 to 15 minutes. In stop, park, ignition off/on driving, the light clears but then lights up again in the 10 to 15 minute interval. Question: Are they subject to maintenance? Is there anything that can be done with them? |

Re: EGR Solenoid
only thing i can think of is you got carbon stuck in one of em, and its not responding the way they are supposed to. other than that you might just have to replace them.

Re: EGR Solenoid
clean them all out really good then put em back on, if that doesn't help, replace.
