2004 Sierra SLT electrical issue

I just traded in my '01 Sierra SLE for an '04 Sierra SLT and twice now I've had what appears to be a dead battery. The first time it happened the engine turned over slowly and fired, but the clock on the stereo was reset like power had been cut. The second time the truck would not start at all, 8V on the battery. I got it started with a jump and checked the alternator output, 14V. The dealer checked the battery and also checked for a power drain, but found nothing. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this with an '04 or if I should just insist on a battery change.

Re: 2004 Sierra SLT electrical issue

Have your GM Dealer replace the battery. It may or does have an intermittant connector inside the battery. These connectors connect the cells. If it is bad you will get a low reading. The tip off was the reset of the radio and 8 volts at the terminals. I had the same in an old Pontiac Lemans around 1978. Got the battery replaced and all was well.
