I don't know about a 2nd gen conversion, but i do the 3rd gen. Personally, i wouldn't convert to 2nd gen, but do 3rd gen!!! The body styling looks so much better, almost like a muscle car the way the hood lines are smooth, yet robust.

Not sure about conversion KITS, but i know 3sxperformance has the materials to do a 99 body conversion here: http://www.3sxperformance.com/body.asp . Personally, i don't like the look of the 99 rear garnish tail light. If i were you, i'd get a GTO rear garnish tail light.

Im not sure but i dont think that you can only get the headlights of a second gen if you have a first gen. I think you need the hood and the front bumper too.

true but the headlight kits they have is like 1500 dallors thats insane just for head lights... all it is, is a clear cover and bulbs...

and if i get a new bumper, hood and stuff the i would have to change the side skrits cause they wont match...

i'm confused. so do you WANT a new bumper and hood? or do you THINK you need a new bumper and hood? i would e-mail the guys at 3sxpeformance and just ask them if you could do the 99 headlight conversion w/o new bumper and hood. and yes, those prices are high, probably b/c they're direct OEM replacements. you're best bet would be to check out the parts for sale forums at 3si.org and find a part out car. but you won't find a 99 part out car, most likely a 2nd gen part out car. so good luck...but don't expect not to pay a few hundred for headlights...they're not a cheap piece of equipment.

Re: Where Can I Find 1st gen too 2nd gen head light conversion

Ok heres the deal. In order to use non pop up lights you must change the front bumper and hood. Some people have gotten away with modifying there existing headlight buckets but I found it more useful and easier to change the entire front core support. I did a second gen conversion on a friends 92 Stealth RT. The core support is the EXACT same from 94-99.

As for 3sx yes there parts are expensive and the reason the headlight are so expensive is because they are 99 headlights. The 99 lights are actually cheaper thru the dealer. Especially with a 3si members discount. As for the side skirts not matching I am one of MANY who have side skirts that dont match the front bumper genreation. Hell it doesnt match my car. I have a 94 Stealth with a 99 front bumper and am utilizing my stock Stealth headlights, 99 turn signals, 91-93 3k side skirts and door caps, 91-93 3k rear bumper, 94-98 3k reverse panel, JDM GTO taillights, and a 96 Stealth replica spoiler. I get compliments on my car all the time and have people PM, IM, or email me all the time from 3si just giving me a thumbs up.

Technically there is only 1st gen (91-93) and 2nd gen (94-99). But if you want to get super technical then there are 4 gens. 91-93, 94-96, 97-98, and 99.

Just out of curiousity, did you get in an accident and gather all these different gen pieces together to get it fixed, or did you do all these conversions on purpose...just curious...also you got any pics?

I know that there are 2 gens, and that the 99s are sometimes referred to as the 3rd, but how on earth did you come up with 4? What do the 96s and 94s share in common that the 97s and 98s don't have? I could understand the switch from OBDI to OBDII (the hybrid years being 94+95), or the new spoiler in 97...but please don't tell me you are seperating a generation based on a spoiler...what is the basis of this seperation you have made between 94-96 and 97-98?

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Yeah I kind of was in an accident. Back in December of 02 I had a deer slam into the side of me and destroy my fender, mirror and door. I bought the stuff to replace it and with the extra money bought a body kit. Well the body kit lasted about 6 months. High speed spin out into some guard rails started the removal. Then I ran over a big dead deer in the middle of the road which almost ripped the front bumper off. Thats when I decided on the 99 front and since the rest of the kit didnt look right with the 99 front I started acquiring the other pieces. The 96 Stealth spoiler was bought because it looks 100 times better than earlier Stealth spoilers and I told the guy if he produced them I would definitely buy one.

The way to comeup with 4. 94-96 share one front bumper, while 97-98 have a different front bumper as well as the spoiler difference. Like I said I dont refer to it in 3 or 4 gens just first and second since the chassis is what counts.

As for pics I'll post some in a few

That does look damn good, looks more like a hybrid 3000gt/stealth than a stealth. And the color is beautiful. Very very nice!

LOL its definitely a hybrid. Color is World Rally Blue Pearl, like on Subie's. Only difference mine is custom mixed with a little extra pearl so the color is slightly different. All the car needs now is a drop(coming soon) and new wheels(coming in the spring).
