line in in factory CD player
Does anybody know if the factory CD player / Tape Deck / Radio in a 2003 Tacoma has the ability to accept a "line in" audio signal? There's not one on the front, but I thought somebody might know if there was a CD changer option available, which would mean there is probably an audio input for the changer. So I'm hoping what I can do is find an appropriate adapter and plug my, e.g., MP3 player into the CD changer line-in terminals and listen to MP3s without the quality degradation of an FM modulator or a tape-adapter.
I could of course tear the radio out and look for extra terminals and then experiment with them, but I thought it might be easier to ask first. ![]() Thanks, -Jon |

Re: line in in factory CD player
If memory serves me correct, most CD changers don't use your standard RCA style Audio jacks like let's say an amplifier would. Most of them have a connection similar to a S-Video style input. My old setup was done that way. But it wasn't stock. It had the audi oin style jacks for the amp, then a seperate S0video style jack to plug in the changer. Right now I have a JVC head unit with a ywelve disc changer, but I have no idea how it's connected. I know the audio in/jack is being used by my amp so I'm going to guess the changer has it's own style jack. I'm wiling to bet a stock tape deck is the same.
