What to do with my engine

I have a 95 cavalier and right now im new to the forum. So my engine right now is leaking anti-freeze from the head, which i tried to fix before by changing the head gasket, so i dont know what to do. I want to start doing mods to my car. I had an idea of going to the junkyard and picking up an 2.4L engine and doing mods to that since there is more potential for that and then dropping that engine into my car, but i dont know if it would be better just to fix my engine now and do mods to that? I also have a question about a motor from a 95 mits. ecli. gst if i would be able to drop it into my car or not?

You say you tried to fix the leak before by changing the head gasket.

It did not work? what else do you plan to do to fix the engine?

Thanks for the input!

unless you didn't bolt it down properly in three stages to reach the proper torque , say it's supposed to be 60 lbs , you tighten all the bolts in the right order to 20 lbs ,then all at 40 lbs , then all at 60 lbs.there is a specific order in wich this has to be done or it will leak.If you followed the procedure properly and it still leaks you may have a warped head. simply hold a carpenters steel framing square (or something you know to be perfectly straight) on edge in all directions and look to see if it's flat and has no warpage.
if it is warped a machine shop will plane it down for you.this will take away combustion chamber volume leading to a slightly higher compression equaling more POWER arrrrgh.
since the head is at the machine shop, you may as well have it ported and polished, maybe gasket matched and unshroud the valves , an extra hundred or so may give you another 30 or more h.p.without changing the cam or the chip..mike

Re: What to to with my engine

well I was planning on possibly dropping the 2.4l in the car, because of more hp, and In my understanding more options out there as far as mods go. Im not really sure if i should, but if it doesnt make a real difference then ill fix my 2.2l I have now. Also I plan on eventually doing all the mods i can to it. So any imput you have would help.
